Living Lore
We are a design studio focused on rekindling the magic between humans and the living world. Through intuitive and natural materials, we steward connection with nature through gardening, handmade objects, and thought-provoking art.
It's no surprise that many of us feel disconnected. We hardly interact with the natural rhythms of life. Instead of shaming ourselves into more sustainable practices, Living Lore is focused on fostering the joy of slow living, intuitive creativity, and time spent outdoors.
Zena Kanes
A born-and-raised Oregonian with a green thumb nurtured in childhood and cultivated in homeownership. She holds a certificate in Permaculture Design from OSU.
Zena spent over 7 years working as an illustrator, spatial designer, and marketing specialist in the Publishing and Advertising realm, and apprenticed under sculptor Kevin Christman and Inger Jorgensen.
After a series of burnouts and chronic health issues, Zena decided to pivot and shift into a more intuitive art and design practice.
Proudly Imperfect
The best thing about the natural world is that it is messy. The more we try to control it, the more we disrupt the natural order. We all have to learn to live in tandem with the wilderness, in our garden, in our art practice, and in our relationships. We say, leave the leaves, welcome the weeds.
